# Check visibility on a local grid

> Create a Local Heatmap and inspect search results at individual points around a chosen location.

Canonical: https://docs.georanker.com/docs/ranktracker-local-222

Use **Local Heatmap** to compare visibility around a geographic centre. Each grid point represents a separate search location.

## Create the grid

1. Select your campaign, open **Local Heatmap**, and select **New Report**.
2. In **Domain & Name**, name the report and enter the target domain without `https://`.
3. In **Grid Configuration**, choose **3 × 3**, **6 × 6**, or **9 × 9**. Set the distance between points in kilometres or miles.
4. In **Centre Location**, search for an address and select **Search**, or click the map. Check the centre before continuing.
5. Choose **Google** for organic website rankings or **Google Local** for local pack and map results.
6. Add your keywords, one per line or separated by commas. Review the domain, grid, centre, engine, and keywords, then select **Create Report**.

Start with a **3 × 3** grid and one keyword: nine search locations. The **Report Summary** shows the total SERPs before you submit. Larger grids and more keywords increase the work.

## Read the map

Wait for the report to complete. Choose the keyword when the report contains more than one. The map legend groups positions into ranking bands.

Click a grid cell to see the results collected there. The table below the map lists each location and the reported position for your domain.

If a cell shows a dash, inspect its results before drawing a conclusion. Check the exact domain, including any `www` variation. A missing target match does not by itself prove that every page from the website is absent from the captured results.

Use the map to find locations worth investigating, then compare the pages competing there. For named cities instead of a grid, use [city rank tracking](https://docs.georanker.com/docs/ranktracker-cities).
