# Check keyword search volumes

> Compare search demand for a shortlist of keywords before choosing what to write or track.

Canonical: https://docs.georanker.com/docs/keyword-volumes

**Search Volume** checks the terms you provide. Use [keyword discovery](https://docs.georanker.com/docs/keyword-suggestions-1) first if you need ideas to expand that shortlist.

## Create a volume report

1. Select your project and open **Keyword Research → New Research**.
2. Enter a report name, such as **Booking hotel volumes**.
3. Select **Google Ads → Search Volume**.
4. Paste your keywords, one per line or separated by commas. The form accepts up to **1,000 keywords**.
5. Select the target country in **Location** and enter a language code in **Language**. For English searches about hotels in the US, choose **United States** and enter `en`.
6. Select **Run Research**. Open the completed report in **Recent Reports**.

[Interactive example: Keyword Volumes: research setup](https://docs.georanker.com/docs/keyword-volumes). The example uses illustrative sample data.

For a first booking.com comparison, try:

```text
hotels in New York
hotels in Chicago
hotels in Miami
```

Location and language are optional in the Google Ads form, but setting them helps you keep comparisons focused on the same audience.

## Compare demand, then choose an action

Sort the results by **Search Volume** to compare terms. Use **Search Volume Trend** to see how their demand changes over the months shown in the report.

The table also includes **Competition**, **Comp. Index**, **CPC**, **Low Bid**, and **High Bid**. These advertising metrics provide context for paid search; they do not tell you how difficult an organic ranking will be. A dash means the report has no displayed value for that metric.

**CPC (cost per click) is always shown in USD (US dollars)** in Keyword Research, regardless of the selected country or language.

Keep relevance in the decision. A lower-volume term that fits a specific page can be more useful than a broad term that does not match your content.

## Save or export your shortlist

- **Save to List** creates a reusable [keyword list](https://docs.georanker.com/docs/keyword-lists), using all keywords or only those with volume. Existing lists can be appended to as well.
- **Export CSV** offers the same all-keywords or with-volume choices.
- **Create Report** opens the next step for Rank Tracker, SERP Snapshot, or Heatmap. Review its settings before submitting it.

## Optional settings

The form also includes **Date From**, **Date To**, **Sort By**, **Search Partners**, and **Adult Keywords**. Change them when your research needs a particular period or scope, and keep those settings consistent when comparing reports.

For Bing demand, choose the **Bing** tab and **Search Volume**. Bing requires a location and language and also offers a device selector.
